Sports performance training is not simply about mimicking the movements of your sport. While sport-specific exercises can have value, effective sports performance training should address the broader physical qualities that allow an athlete to perform better and stay healthy.

Depending on the athlete and the demands of the sport, sports performance training can include movement pattern training, movement quality, injury prevention, strength and power development, flexibility and mobility, general conditioning, agility, balance, coordination, and sport-specific skills.

A basketball player doesn’t necessarily need to perform an exercise that looks like shooting a basketball, just as a golfer doesn’t need to swing a weighted club to improve every aspect of golf performance. Instead, training should develop the physical abilities that support the athlete’s sport while addressing individual strengths, weaknesses, and movement limitations.

At 1TO1, we work with recreational athletes, youth athletes, college athletes, and professional athletes. Our sports performance training programs are designed based on the needs of the specific athlete as much if not even more than her specific sport. Our goal is to help athletes become stronger, faster, more powerful, better conditioned, more resilient, and ultimately better prepared to perform at their highest level and for as long as possible.

Our Approach to Training for Athletes

Multidirectional Movement

We train our clients in all directions, the way the body was meant to move and in ways that will keep them strong, agile, mobile, and safe.

Movement Quality

Movement quality focuses on both the mobility (or flexibility) of the body and the control of that mobility: stability and strength.

Sport-Specific Programming

Our goal is to help athletes become stronger, faster, more powerful, better conditioned, more resilient, and ultimately better prepared to perform at their highest level and for as long as possible.

Functional Training

An athlete’s training in the gym should enhance their performance and resiliency on the field or court.

Metabolic Conditioning

Your metabolic conditioning workouts can be designed based on your sport and your level. You’ll work hard and feel the difference on game day.

Injury Prevention & Durability

Many aspects of strength and conditioning programs help with injury prevention including improving movement mechanics, integrated core training, multidirectional movement training, stability, strength and power development, and others. Our goal is to keep you in the game for many seasons to come.
